UFC on FOX 15: Machida vs Rockhold goes down this Saturday from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. An unfortunate injury to Yoel Romero means the co-main event that was previously between him and Jacare Souza is now Souza and Camozzi in a rematch that noone really wanted to see happen. For The Fight Predictor we’ll be looking to bounce back after a pretty bad weekend at last weekend’s UFC Fight Night 64: Gonzaga vs Cro Cop II. There is little reason to believe Jacare Souza vs Chris Camozzi 2 goes any differently than the first which ended in less than 4 minutes. The last time they fought was even under similar circumstances with Souza’s opponent pulling out due to injury. Since that fight, Camozzi lost 3 straight and was cut from the UFC. Outside of the UFC he managed 2 straight wins, both inside the first round for Prize FC. Camozzi has been a middle-lower tier middleweight in the UFC throughout his career, losing to any good fighters, but beating the really bad ones. Souza is right up there with the top middleweights in the UFC. Since his second career fight in 2004, Souza has only lost to Gegard Mousasi and Luke Rockhold. He is also a finisher with 17 of his 21 career wins coming inside the distance. The line we like on this fight is the under 1.5 rounds which currently sits at 1.50 (-200).
The second leg of this 2 team parlay is Cub Swanson to defeat Max Holloway in their featherweight fight. Besides his most recent loss to Frankie Edgar, Swanson has been on fire with 6 straight wins including 4 by TKO or KO since 2012. Max Holloway is also doing incredibly well as of late with 5 straight wins in 2014 with 4 coming inside the distance. The big thing to keep in mind about both these two guys though is the level of competition they’ve been facing. Swanson’s most recent wins come over guys like Dennis Siver, Dustin Poirier and Ross Pearson while Holloway’s wins comes over Cole Miller, Akira Corassani and Andre Fili. We believe Swanson wins this fight and we think he has a good shot of doing it on the feet by TKO. As a slight favourite, we think there’s tons of value of betting him which is why we made him the second leg of our parlay.
